Within the framework of our project “Training and capacity building for the defense of the environmental rights of groups vulnerable to the climate emergency” (funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Call for Unique Projects 2024), on May 21, 2025<\/strong> we will celebrate the conference “Childhood participation in climate and environmental issues”<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

Children and adolescents, who already experience the effects of the ecological and climate crisis disproportionately, have a unique and valuable perspective on environmental issues. In this sense, their active participation in climate and environmental matters is not only a right but an urgent necessity for building a more sustainable future. Involvement in decision-making and actions related to the environment and the climate crisis not only empowers new generations to contribute significantly to the creation of innovative and sustainable solutions, but also fosters a sense of responsibility and ecological awareness. However, for the participation of children and adolescents to be effective, it is crucial to guarantee their access to information in a clear and understandable way, as well as to participation spaces that recognize childhood as active citizenship. This ensures that climate and environmental policies are built with an inclusive and long-term vision, taking into account the voices of those who will inherit the planet. <\/p>\n

The meeting will have the following objectives: i) to raise awareness among participants about the impact of the climate and environmental crisis on children; ii) to raise awareness about participation in decision-making related to the environment and climate change as an indisputable right of children; and iii) to disseminate experiences and good practices of children’s participation in climate and environmental initiatives. <\/p>\n

This event, which will have the collaboration of the Ombudsman of Catalonia, will be held in person<\/strong> in the Auditorium of the Ombudsman of Catalonia from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Participation is free,<\/strong> but prior registration is required by filling out the registration form.<\/p>\n
