Project Description
INSTA has participated in promoting the sustainability of the REC Tarragona International Film Festival for the first time. To achieve this, it has provided support in developing a diagnosis to know the starting point and subsequently a sustainability strategy with different objectives and actions to be achieved focused on waste, food, transport and travel, advertising and merchandising, accommodation, training and sustainability talks and energy. A sustainability guide has also been developed for workers, guests and the public with recommendations to make your stay during the festival as sustainable as possible.
Other actions carried out have focused on facilitating selective collection, reducing waste generation by providing reusable water bottles and incorporating water sources accessible to everyone, incorporating plant-based foods, promoting the rental of equipment to avoid waste generation, raising public awareness with a sustainability video, promoting more sustainable mobility for workers, guests and the public, providing training to internal staff to be able to implement the strategy, among others.
In order to make the sustainability strategy a reality, advice and support have been provided in implementing the actions and in obtaining a certification that accredits its work towards sustainability. The certification that has been sought to obtain corresponds to that of “ A Greener Festival ”, which has different levels of commitment. For this edition the festival has achieved the Improvers AGF level, which implies great advances on the path towards a sustainable event.
Festivals, and in this case, film festivals, are events that also have an environmental impact and it is of great importance that the organizers of these events begin to work to minimize their environmental impacts.
