INSTA has been the beneficiary of the last call for Singulars projects to promote the social and solidarity economy, promoted by the Department of Labor of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Specifically for the promotion of a project through which energy poverty is fought through collective renewable energy projects, such as energy communities.
The project aims to develop administrative, legal and social tools for the promotion of energy communities that incorporate the fight against energy poverty as a central element. Specifically, action guides and protocols will be designed, as well as legal document models that allow and facilitate the development of municipal initiatives that guarantee access, integration and involvement of vulnerable groups in energy communities. This task will be complemented by a pilot test in a municipality of more than 10,000 inhabitants to evaluate the implementation of the designed instruments. The project will generate activity, as it will expand the scope of current energy communities and encourage future ones to already incorporate this social axis. At the same time, it will stimulate the generation of specialized jobs in renewable energy, energy demand management and attention to vulnerability. As for INSTA, a new legal and social advisory service will be created dedicated to councils, but extendable to other interested parties. This new service will expand the scope of action of the cooperative and allow its growth in the short and medium term.
