An important obstacle for sustainable development are the problems of communication management and resolution of environmental conflicts between actors. When there are tensions in the territory due to environmental problems (climate change, drought, territorial imbalances, etc.), the impact on the environment also affects human relations. However, today the current methods of management and/or prevention of these environmental conflicts are not sufficient, and a new approach is essential that has human relations as its center of reference, and equipping the actors of the affected territory of more effective mechanisms. This is fundamental in these times because the success or failure of its management can lead to social and economic tensions that affect the stability of a territory.

The ” Environmental dialogue for the future of all ” project (financed by the Generalitat of Catalonia, Call for Unique Projects 2023) aims to improve environmental protection and restore human bonds affected by conflicts or environmental tensions through the development of an Environmental Dialogue service . It is a pioneering project that wants to promote the management and overcoming of environmental conflicts and the defense of the territory based on the restoration of relations between the parties involved, it also aims to promote a sustainable model that, despite bearing in mind the importance of technology, have as a center of reference human relations, to face the great climate and environmental challenges.

To this end, the project foresees the realization of a series of actions (workshops, trainings, guides and communication materials, as well as a pilot test of a real case) around the Environmental Dialogue and the restorative approach. With all this, these various instruments added to the experience gained from the pilot test, will constitute the pillars of the new advisory and support service (technical, legal and administrative) in environmental dialogue to bodies, entities, institutions involved in environmental projects and that INSTA will begin to offer to cover very important needs for Catalan society and for the state as a whole.
