The desire to unite the work of environmental defense with the values of the social and solidarity economy led us to look for a reference to validate that our action was consistent.
We got in touch with the XES (Solidarity Economy Network) who proposed that we take part in the “hand in hand” project. It is a collaborative map of Catalonia that shows points of responsible consumption and Solidarity Economy, an initiative of SETEM and the Solidarity Economy Network (XES).
The starting point is a questionnaire with 15 criteria that validate that the organizations present on the map respond to the premises of the Solidarity Economy. This is a much more demanding process than in other countries such as France, where only the type of organization is valued and the statutes include the will to work for the ESS.
